National City’s Ballet Folklorico classes start soon and are still taking registrations. Classes are offered at several levels for varying ages. Auditions are required for some classes. Cost is $60 for residents, $84 for nonresidents. Register at www.joinnatcity.com.
Tree lighting at Otay Ranch Center
Santa arrives and a Christmas tree with more than 17,000 lights will be the centerpiece of from 5-7 pm Tuesday 11/22 at the annual Tree Lighting and Holiday Farmers Market at Otay Ranch Town Center, 2015 Birch Road, Chula Vista. Chula Vista mayor offers State of the City
Chula Vista Mayor Mary Casillas Salas will deliver her final State of the City address at 6 pm Nov. 29 in City Council Chambers, 276 Fourth Ave. A reception will follow in the courtyard from 7 to 9 pm
Free flu shots from Chula Vista FD
The Chula Vista Fire Department is giving free flu shots to those age 6 months and older from 8:30 am to noon and 1 to 4 pm Monday through Friday at 276 Fourth Ave. (near Building C) Appointments are preferred but not required. To make an appointment, visit myturn.ca.gov/screening.

Register soon for National City’s Reindeer Dash 1-Mile Walk/Run from 9 to 10 on Dec. 10 at Kimball Park, 148 E. 12th St. Free to participate. Check-in starts at 8:30 am Space is limited so register soon at www.nationalcityca.gov/events. After the race, join everyone at the MLK Community Center for the quarterly Community Breakfast, free to the first 100 people. National City is also hosting its annual “A Kimball Holiday,” taking place from 2-9 pm Dec. 10 at the park. The event features a live DJ and LED dance floor, a tree lighting, Santa’s Village and Who-Ville, a Ferris wheel, arts and crafts, a vendor and food court, a car show, resource booths and snow! Police foundation seeks donations for children
The Chula Vista Police Department’s School Resource Officer Unit, in partnership with the Chula Vista Police Foundation, Chula Vista Elementary School District, and South Bay Community Services, are holding their 11th annual Shoe and Sock Drive, providing these items to needy youth in the community . On Dec 10, select students registered at Chula Vista Elementary School District will be invited to Solo Shoes to hand-pick their new shoes and socks.
