Red Bluff firestorm firefighter killed by fallen tree Friday | News

RED BLUFF, Calif. – Firestorm firefighter Darin Banks of Red Bluff died Friday after being hit by a dead tree that unexpectedly fell, according to Firestorm Wildland Fire Suppression Inc.

Banks was assigned to a Type II Initial Attack Hand Crew working to prepare an area for prescribed burning in Tuolumne County.

Banks, 26, leaves behind his 4-year-old son, mother, siblings, grandparents and great-grandparents.

“Our hearts go out to all who knew and loved Darin, and we ask you to keep them in your thoughts and prayers during this time of sorrow,” Jess Wills, president of Firestorm Wildland Fire Suppression Inc., said.

Firestorm will release more information about services when it becomes available.
