LEXINGTON – The City of Lexington approved a housing contract with the Community Development Agency and Peque Roofing, Inc. during the city council meeting on Tuesday, September 28th.
City Manager Joe Pepplitsch said the agreement provides for the construction of four houses on the west side of Independence Street, south of the intersection with 20th Street.
Peque Roofing has already built one of the houses and another is currently under construction.
The lots will be given to Peque Roofing for USD 3,350.00. Each home must be built within 18 months of the signing of the agreement, and each lot should be valued at an estimated $ 250,000.00 to accommodate workers’ housing for Lexington.
“We think this is fair,” said Pepplitsch about the agreement. He noted that the CDA approved the agreement at their meeting on Monday, September 20.
Between this agreement with Peque Roofing and the 20 houses to be built by Lacey Construction, there will only be a few free spaces on Independence St., said Pepplitsch.
The only other item on the agenda was a resolution authorizing the signing of the annual municipal program compliance certification form for the Nebraska Board of Public Roads Classifications and Standards.

Pepplitsch said this is an annual resolution and will cover it for the fiscal year. He also noted that a road foreman must be certified before the end of the year.
